Notes from the Moore Staff
So - what the heck is"Tigerwood"?
Well - the "official name is "Goncalo Alves", commonly known as Tigerwood. It's an incredibly distinctive lumber species, and the tigerwood name comes from characteristic stripes of color. It tends to be harder and heavier than Koa or Mahogany, nearly like east Indian rosewood, but with a different grain structure.
Moore Guitars in Evansville, Indiana is proud to present to you this guitar - we only were able to get one, so time IS of the essence as these were a "one run, special edition". As for this particular guitar, Taylor made a very short run of these guitars so there are very few available in the U.S.. These guitars are a layered back and sides of "Tigerwood", and have a solid torrefied spruce top. Normally starting in the Deluxe series, this special edition guitar comes complete with a Taylor Brown hard-shell case as an added bonus! On a spectrum of sounds, it’ll lean more toward a rosewood like tone due to it’s density, but with less mid scooping-it’ll be a little more balanced in the midrange like koa due to the grain structure.
