Charles Whitfill's path to becoming a world-renowned luthier was a very different story than we're used to. He was first a master machinist, working up to executive positions in Process Improvement and Quality Control. In search of a new challenge, Charles then began a career as a barrel-maker for the wine industry. Whitfill's knowledge of wood properties and experience in precision machinery combined with his passion for music led him to create custom instruments for Vince Gill, Brent Mason, Johnny Highland and Jack Pearson.
When you play a Whitfill guitar, you'll notice the wood first - light, resonant, and harmonic. Then the tone of his proprietary pickups give you a taste of what a real guitar should sound like. After that, you’re a Whitfill player.
